JAZZ
What is Jazz Dance?
Jazz is a style of dance that emphasizes individuality, theatricality, and originality. Originally formed from the different styles of Jazz music, Jazz Dance can range from the Broadway genre to a smoother, slower interpretation of technique that challenges a dancer to stimulate different muscle groups and invites their creativity.
Jazz class.
At Premier Dance School, our Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Jazz classes are accompanied by age-appropriate contemporary music and feature a low center of gravity, a high level of energy, and self-expressive movement.
As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
