Programme requirements

 

All pieces except the obligatory works by Mykola Lysenko must be performed from memory

Each piece can be performed only once (cannot be repeated in other rounds)

Third Round programme is performed with symphony orchestra

First Round
(duration must not exceed 35 minutes)

1. J.S. Bach – Any Prelude and Fugue from the “Well Tempered Klavier” (volumes 1 and 2)

2. Any classical Sonata by one of the following composers:
Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven – First movement or the last two movements

3. Virtuoso studies:
Chopin – Any study from opus 10 or 25
Any study by one of the following composers: Liszt, Rachmaninov, Skriabin, Debussy or Kosenko
A short virtuoso piece by a contemporary composer

4. Lysenko – “Song without Words”, op. 10 – any one of the two songs

 

 

Second Round
(duration must not exceed 45 minutes)

1. One major work by a European composer:
Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Franck, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Skriabin, Debussy, Ravel.

2. A piece by Lysenko from the following:
The Second Ukrainian Rhapsody
or
Concert Polonaise No. 2 in G Major

3. A piece by a 20th century composer.

 

 

Third round

One concerto for piano and orchestra from the following:
Beethoven - Nos. 3, 4 and 5, Schumann - A Minor, Saint-Saens - No. 2, Brahms – Nos. 1 and 2, Liszt - Nos. 1 and 2, Chopin - Nos. 1 and 2, Rachmaninov - Nos. 2 and 3 and Rhapsody No. 5, Prokofiev - Nos. 1 and 3, Shostakovich - Nos. 1 and 2, Tchaikovsky - No. 1, Revutsky - No. 2, Liatoshynsky - Slavonic Concerto, Skoryk - No. 2, Shtoharenko - Symphonic Dances, Kos-Anatolsky - Concerto.
