Programme requirements:
All pieces must be performed from memory
Each piece can be performed only once (cannot be repeated in other rounds)
Third Round programme is performed with symphony orchestra
First Round
(duration must not exceed 35 minutes)
1. An air from an opera by a 17-18 century composer
2. Large air from an opera by a 19th century composer
3. An air from an opera or cantata by a 20th century composer
Second Round
(duration must not exceed 45 minutes)
1. A popular song - can be a song by a composer of the country represented by the Competitor (a capella or with accompaniment)
2. An air by a 19-20th century composer from the following:
Donizetti, Bizet, Wagner, Gounod, Massenet, Thomas, Saint-Saens, R.Strauss, Cilea, Dvorak, Moniuszko, Smetana, Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Musorgsky, Glinka, Shedrin, Lysenko*, Khrennikov, Shaporin, Shebalin, Dankevych, Molchanov, Mayboroda, Meitus.
3. A romance by one of the following composers:
Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Beethoven, de Falla, Dvorak, Faure, Ravel, Grieg, Saint-Saens, Debussy, Granados, Mahler, Musorgsky, Lysenko*, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Sviridov, Gliyer, Stetsenko, Stepovy.
* The Special Prize For the best performance of a piece by Mykola Lysenko can be awarded only to the Competitors who perform at least one piece by Lysenko in the Second Round.
Third Round
Three large airs with the symphony orchestra by any of the following composers:
Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, Donizetti, Massenet, Gounod, Mascagni, Rossini, Bellini, Leoncavallo, Saint-Saens, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Borodin, Musorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Glinka, Stravinsky, Lysenko, Mayboroda, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Meitus, Dankevych, Verykivsky.
